Steps

1
Understand assay principle and mechanism

The CellTox Green cytotoxicity assay measures loss of cell membrane integrity by using a non-toxic dye that binds to DNA in dead or damaged cells while being excluded from viable cells. Once cytotoxic events occur, the dye binds to exposed DNA and produces a fluorescent signal.

2
Deliver dye with cells or test compound

Add the CellTox Green dye either at cell plating time or with the test compound during dosing. This flexible delivery approach requires no extra reagent handling steps.

3
Collect time course data with photostability

The exceptional photostability of the dye allows you to collect measurements from the same well over extended periods of up to 72 hours. This enables monitoring of toxic effects throughout prolonged exposure periods.

4
Select appropriate plate format and scale

Scale the assay to match your workflow requirements by choosing from multiple plate formats ranging from 96-well to 1536-well plates. This flexibility allows adaptation to various experimental needs.
