How to use a Steripak™-GP filter to filter/sterilize large volumes of tissue culture media

Learn about the Steripak-GP filter device specifications including membrane area options (100-200 cm²), maximum operating pressure (75 psig), and temperature limits (below 45°C). Understand the importance of using hose clamps to prevent tube detachment.

Set up a 10-20 liter pressure vessel or peristaltic pump as the pressure source. Install an inline filter trap to protect the vacuum pump from liquids and vapors. Fit the dispensing vessel with inlet valve, vent relief valve, and quick-release coupling.

Fit a 4-9.5 mm ID silicone rubber or latex tube over the connector with a snug fit. Remove the Steripak-GP filter unit from the blister pack using aseptic technique.

Attach the tubing to the filter inlet using aseptic technique. Connect the filter unit to a ring stand and place a sterile collection flask underneath to catch the filtered media.

Turn on the pressure vessel or peristaltic pump to start filtering the tissue culture media. Maintain pressure at 15-20 psig for optimal filtration results throughout the process.

Turn off the pressure source when filtration is complete. Remove the Steripak-GP filter unit and dispose of it properly according to institutional guidelines.
