A Computerized Functional Skills Assessment and Training Program Targeting Technology Based Everyday Functional Skills
DOI: 10.3791/60330-v
What you'll learn
✓Administer computerized cognitive assessments (MoCA, BAC) to establish baseline function
✓Implement adaptive training simulations for financial, transit, and medication tasks
✓Measure training gains through fixed-difficulty and post-training performance assessments
Protocol
This training protocol uses computerized training to teach technology-related everyday functional skills. These skills include financial skills, travel and transit, as well as medication management.
Difficulty
intermediate
Total time
~2-3 hours per participant (assessment + training + post-assessment)
Steps
1
Conduct Montreal Cognitive Assessment and Brief Assessment of Cognition
Administer standardized cognitive screening tests (MoCA and BAC) to characterize participant baseline cognitive status before training intervention.
▶ 01:24
2
Present fixed-difficulty assessment and training simulations
Present computerized task simulations at fixed difficulty levels targeting financial management, travel/transit navigation, and medication management to establish baseline performance.
▶ 02:38
3
Execute adaptive training and post-training assessments
Conduct training protocol with difficulty adjustments, followed by post-training assessment at fixed difficulty to measure learning outcomes.
▶ 04:29
4
Quantify and document representative training gains
Analyze performance data comparing baseline to post-training scores across functional skill domains to demonstrate training efficacy.
