Biopharma Insights Radiation therapy is a highly complex cancer treatment that requires multiple specialists to create a treatment plan and provide quality assurance (QA) prior to delivery to a patient. This protocol describes the use of a fully automated system, the Radiation Planning Assistant (RPA), to create high-quality radiation treatment plans.

Steps

Order and approve CT imaging for treatment planning
Submit radiotherapy plan orders and review diagnostic CT images to confirm image quality and patient positioning are suitable for automated planning.

Review and approve organ/tumor contours
Examine automatically or manually generated anatomical contours (target volumes and organs-at-risk) and approve them for use in dose calculation and optimization.
Assess the RPA-generated dose distributions, dose conformality, and plan quality metrics to confirm compliance with clinical objectives before plan approval.
