Steps

Perform bronchoscopic guided intrabronchial inoculation

Use visual bronchoscopy guidance to deliver inoculant directly into target airways. This technique enables controlled experimental infection or substance delivery within the bovine respiratory tract.

Collect bronchoalveolar lavage fluid samples

Perform bronchoalveolar lavage (BALF) to obtain cellular and biochemical samples from distal airways and alveoli. This non-terminal sampling method recovers immune cells and soluble mediators from lung compartments.

Obtain bronchial brush samples from airways

Use bronchoscopic brushing to collect epithelial cells and microorganisms from bronchial surfaces. Brushings capture airway-specific cellular material for microbial, immunological, or histological analysis.

Obtain transbronchial lung tissue biopsy

Collect small lung tissue samples via bronchoscopic biopsy forceps under direct visualization. Transbronchial biopsies provide histopathological assessment of parenchymal and airway pathology.
