Steps

1
Select assay type on home screen

Access the Qubit 4 fluorometer home screen and select the type of sample you wish to quantitate. For this demonstration, the high sensitivity double-stranded DNA assay is selected.

2
Run standard calibration or load saved standards

Choose whether to run a new standard calibration or use previously saved standards with their time and date stamps. The instrument will prompt you to enter standards sequentially.

▶ 00:47
3
Read standard solutions one and two

Follow on-screen prompts to insert standard 1, then standard 2 into the instrument. Each read takes approximately 3 seconds, and fluorescence values are displayed on the graph for verification and troubleshooting.

▶ 01:02
4
Press run sample button to begin

Once calibration is complete, press the run sample button to activate the sample measurement screen. The instrument will prompt you to enter the sample volume added to the assay.

▶ 01:32
5
Enter sample volume and output units

Input the volume of original sample added to the assay, between 1 and 20 microliters, using the scroll wheel or plus/minus buttons. Set the desired output units for result display; the device will save these settings for future samples.

▶ 01:46
6
Read sample and obtain results

Place your sample in the instrument and initiate the read. The Qubit 4 automatically calculates the amount of double-stranded DNA in your original sample tube with no further manual calculations required.
