Steps

1
Prepare samples with total chlorine reagent

Prepare test samples a couple of minutes prior using Thermo Scientific Orion Aqua fast total chlorine reagent powder packs. Note the part number on the package which correlates to the specific method on the Aquamate spectrophotometer.

▶ 00:05
2
Select the appropriate method

Access the pre-programmed method from the Orion Water Analysis menu by searching for 'chlorine' or entering the reagent part number. Select method AC4 P72 which matches your reagent catalog number to confirm wavelength (510 nm), EPA approval status, vial size, and measurement range.

▶ 00:36
3
Insert blank sample and calibrate

Open the instrument cover and insert a vial containing 10 mL of your sample as a blank. Align the vial with the arrow pointing forward, close the lid, and select the blank function to allow the instrument to calibrate.

▶ 01:30
4
Measure first chlorine sample

Remove the blank vial and insert your first prepared sample into the holder. Enter a sample number if desired or allow the meter to assign sequential numbering, then select measure to obtain the chlorine concentration reading.

▶ 02:00
5
Repeat measurements for remaining samples

Continue the analysis process by replacing each sample in the holder and pressing measure. The spectrophotometer rapidly determines chlorine content for each new sample without requiring additional blank runs.

▶ 02:32
6
Save and export results

Once all measurements are complete, the instrument automatically saves the results. Export data using USB memory media, direct network connection, or the integrated printer for record-keeping and further analysis.
